Description

Princess Peach leads with masterful tactics and quick thinking.

Needless to say, after doing my Super Mario Sunshine Princess Peach cosplay, an addiction grew. The need to be Peach again grew and grew inside me. Luckily, Luna Lovely Cosplay approached me about doing a cosplay duo with her for Famine in San Jose. I thought it couldn’t get better, (I mean, I was already super happy to be cosplaying with such a lovely goddess on earth) but then she said she wanted to be Daisy to my Peach and I just about fainted <3 We wanted to do one of their sporty outfits and settled on doing their soccer outfits! We thought they looked super stellar that would combine our talents.

JWai Design was kind enough to let me bug him all day as Peach and even eventually grab a golden hour shot of me. I love it because you can see the airbrushing work done by Luna.

Construction Notes:
If you want to see in progress shots with written descriptions, please go check out the album on facebook HERE.

Wig:
The wig is Arda Wigs’ Jeannie in Platinum Blonde (081). It was WAY too big for my pathetically small head, so I ended up following the tutorials on how to make it smaller. I think I cut an inch or two out of the bottom back of the wig (and repurposed it as the sideburn side points). While it was cut and styled very quickly in a hotel room, I’m pleased as punch with it. The wig was the only thing I wanted to lie between a realistic and cartoony look for this cosplay. I used hairspray to keep the side flips in place and tame the flyaways, but used Tub and Tile Caulk for the front point and side points. I would however, like to take a better crack at the ponytail part again. Get it a bit more flippy.

Crown + Accessories:
All of the gold parts of the rings, bracelet, brooch, etc are pure worbla with gold spray paint over them. Only the crown and bracelet have a craft foam core, mostly because the rest were so small, I didn’t feel like they needed it. I casted and dyed the gems myself. It was my first time and I’m overjoyed with how they turned out. I used EasyCast Clear Casting Epoxy and Sharpie in Turquoise and Red.

The gloves were a pair of pre made white gloves we bought to match and just attached the pink cuffs.

Outfit:
We got matching fabric down at the fabric district together. I really wish I knew what kind it was so I could go back and buy more for other cosplays because I ended up really loving it, but I don’t know much about it. Both blue and pink are the same 2 way stretch fabric.

Luna and I met up a few times before con to make decisions about the pattern and put the full pieces together. I drew up the pattern and sewed up our cosplays. I’m super proud of my matching seams for my blue inserts *^* For as simple as the outfits seem, I feel like a really leveled up a notch when it came to patterning.

Once everything was all sewn up, Luna took the cosplays and airbrushed on all the white decals. It made it all really shine.

Shoes:
Peach wears cleats in the game, but they’re classically big and puffy like most Mario clothing. Most cleats come very sleek and slim nowadays so it didn’t add up. I also didn’t want to tear up any floors, so I decided not buy cleats. I bought a pair of of fluffy high top skater shoes, which came with pink and blue soles thankfully! I colored them with acrylic paint but I would not recommend this! I got great color accuracy with the rest of my outfit, but it ended up cracking pretty bad.
